RDF toolsets

Various RDF toolsets. List found at SearchWebServices.com, a commercial (free subscription) site / repository of white papers.

Specific article is entitled “Ontology building: a survey of editing tools” by Michael Denny, published 1/27/2003.
Sites:

  • eor.dublincore.org – TView
Overview: The goal of the EOR (Extensible Open Rdf) Toolkit is to seamlessly integrate all the components needed to build a generic web search interface of RDF Models. This toolkit as such provides the basic building blocks for supporting search services, topic-maps, site-maps, annotation environments and semantic metadata registries based on RDF.
  • Ontoprise: commercial company (with Open Source versions) – “The ontopriseŽ GmbH is the leading provider of semantic technologies and solutions, which support users, business processes and systems at any time with the necessary knowledge.”
  • Learning Agends Laboratory at George Mason University.
From their “mission” statement: “The Learning Agents Laboratory (LA Lab) has been established in January 1995 to conduct fundamental and experimental research on the development of learning agents for real-world problems, and to support teaching in the areas of intelligent agents, machine learning, knowledge acquisition, and artificial intelligence.”
Interesting projects include RKF, a Collaborative Assistant for Rapid Knowledge Formation and Reasoning (DARPA Agreement #F30602-00-2-0546).

Princeton Embedded Systems Group

Info on / about the Embedded Systems group @ Princeton.

  • Home Page
  • Projects , including Smart Cameras, Code Compression, ASCI Networks-on-Chips (NoCs)
  • Smart Cameras Project

    From the “Overview” section:

Our smart camera system can be used to detect, recognize, and analyze people or other objects in the room, car, plane, security checkpoint, or in similar environments to control the operation of devices in the environment, to detect the presence of people, and to identify their gestures for security and other purposes in real-time. The methodology detects human body parts and recognizes human postures and activities for uncompressed and compressed (MPEG and Motion JPEG) video inputs. The system can recognize activities in a set of frames starting with a recognized posture that is classified as a reference movement by the system. The algorithm includes human body part detection and activity recognition methodology that can analyze motion of the human body parts and identify the general body activity using categories, such as, but not limited to, walking, standing, waving arms, etc. The system can detect a wide range of activities for different applications. For this reason, the system detects different body parts and their movement in order to combine them at a later stage to high-level semantics, compares the attributes of the possible body parts with the stored attributes of the human body, and detects the human presence in video sequences. Next, motion pattern of each body part is compared to the motion patterns of the known gestures. The recognized gesture of each body part are combined by a classifier to recognize the overall gesture of the human body.

The Honeypot Project

The Honeynet Project: To learn the tools, tactics, and motives of the blackhat community, and share those lessons learned.

The Honeynet Project is a non-profit (501c3) research organization of security professionals dedicated to information security. We have no income or revenue, all of our research is done on a volunteer basis. It is our goal to learn the tools, tactics, and motives of the blackhat community and share these lessons learned. It is hoped that our research will benefit both its members and the security community. Founded in April, 1999, all of our work is OpenSource and shared with the security community. The primary tool for our research is the Honeynet.
